Population: Approximately 50,000. The population has increase more than 60% since 2000. Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County.
Location: on the eastern edge of Central Texas Hill Country, 26 miles north of Austin off I-35. 40 miles south of Temple and equidistance from Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Altitude: ranges from 454 to 1265 feet in Williamson County. Sun City is approximately 750 to 860 Feet
Climate: Jan high = 59, July high = 95 Jan low = 39, July low = 74
Average Relative Humidity = 56%
Geographically, Georgetown lies across the Balcones Escarpment a fault line that divides Georgetown into areas roughly east of Interstate 35 in the Blackland Prairie which is flat farmland characterized by having black, fertile soils, where cotton is the primary crop; and the west side of the Escarpment which consists of hilly, karst-like terrain pocketed with limestone openings that allow water to percolate through the limestone and into the Edwards Aquifer below. The area typically has little topsoil and has higher elevations, and is considered part of the Texas Hill Country

Health: Georgetown St. Davids hospital is a 98 bed general, acute care facility with surgical, diagnostic and emergency services. The Georgetown Rec Center: The Parks and Recreation Department operates a year-round recreation center that is open to all citizens. The Georgetown Recreation Center is located at 1003 North Austin Avenue. To contact the GRC please call (512) 930-3596.

The Palace Theater

Plays and Events at the Georgetown Palace Theater - The Historic Palace Theater is located at 810 South Austin Avenue in Georgetown and was built in 1925 by A. C. Moore of Bartlett, Texas. When the Palace could no longer compete as a movie theatre and was forced to close in late 1989. It was renovated and re-opened in 2001. The primary goal of the project was to recapture its historic 1938 Art Deco design, while making it a safe and handicap-accessible facility for the entire community. The Palace is open to the general public featuring stage plays and broadway shows.
